Overview

The VMC localization tester reports to the Test Lead and is responsible for the Language integration testing of a title. The tester will receive their daily and weekly instructions from their manager, and will be expected to complete their allotted tests in the required time and file accurate bug reports.

A Localization tester must be fluent and native in a language other than English, and have excellent oral and written language skills. The Localization tester should have the same degree of mastery of the English language.

POSITION TYPE: Project based

LOCATION: Canada / Montreal. Must be able to commute to the office in downtown Montreal, remote work is NOT an option for this job.

MISC: NO Relocation or Visa Assistance provided. Candidates that do not possess the proper legal documents to work in Canada will not be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the consistency of the audio and on-screen script and that all of the text and audio fits the context of gameplay
  • Verifies the text strings when provided by client
  • Makes corrections to localized text and audio in order to:
    • Avoid text overruns
    • Ensure proper grammar and spelling
    • Cultural and regional appropriateness
    • Target Audience appropriateness
  • Provides minor translations as required
  • Coach and train other Localization Testers
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Excellent written communication skills in the native target language
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Firm understanding of grammar and spelling rules for their native language as well as in depth understanding of cultural sensitivity and differences from their native country
  • Excellent eye for details and strong problem-solving skills
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Must be able to respond effectively to frequently changing priorities and requirements and be able to work under pressure
  • Firm understanding of grammar and spelling rules for their native language as well as cultural      
  • Interest in video games
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
